Am I the only person surprised at the SIZE of this book! I just went to the library yesterday and was a little shocked when I took it off the shelf!

LOL, it is a bit of a honker, Kristen. However, I've jumped in already and it looks like it'll be a relatively easy read. While I consider Atwood cerebral and somewhat aloof in her writing, it's pretty quick stuff.

I read this last July, so I posted my link above to that review.

I love Atwood. This may not be the best choice for a first-timer Atwood reader, but it's still a good book!

I had the (mis)fortune to be sick for a week, so I got a lot of reading done. I loved it & I'm glad I stuck with it!

I should not have been surprised, but as usual, I jsut can't seem to wrap my brain around Atwood! I've picked up Cat's Eye about 10 times and I think I'm on page 7?

Sigh. I created this challenge with Atwood specifically in mind too!

I think I'll look at my two other books by her; The Blind Assassin and Alias Grace. Perhaps I'll have more luck with them :(

Although I've never read Margaret Atwood, I find myself enjoying this challenge book (unlike Great Expectations and The Bluest Eye which I didn't care for at all!) I love how Atwood takes us from Elaine's past to her present, all the while filling in the blanks with a childhood that I can sink into. I can't wait to see how this all ties together.

I also love finding out all the in between things of her story.
At first, I preferred the older Elaine but by the end I loved reading about both of them.

Love Atwood! I think she is one of the most talented authors I have ever read! Reading Blind Assassin now and think it is even better than Cat's Eye. B.

LOVED THIS BOOK! So happy I'm done. I know I'll be reflecting even more to answer some of the hard(!) questions for this month!

Can't believe I actually finished the book before the month's end this time! I was facinated by the relationship between Elaine and Cordelia, the cruelty of this friendship and how Elaine's childhood so totally impacted her art. Yes, this book disturbed me; but all the while I was able to relate somehow...and found a sad satisfaction in it.

I accidentally just posted to my blog rather than the link to my post. My Cat's Eye post is here:

Sadly, I finally put this one aside. I know it's just a mood thing, but I cannot get into it to save my life...and here we are at the end of March! EEek! I'll substitute another book for this one along the way somewhere. I'm glad to see that so many of you did enjoy this one, though. I'll come back to it when my reading mood is a little more stable.

Heather, Andi, I'm so sorry you didn't finish this book! I'm such an atwood lover that I initially wasn't even going to read this lol. Heather, I read Alias Grace back in the late 90s and loved loved loved it, it was the start of my Atwood love.
Anyway, finally posted my comments about this book - in my head it is still March (can't add this to Mr Linky for some reason - probably me being a bit silly)

I didn't get hold of a copy of Cat's Eye so substituted Surfacing, also by Atwood.
My review is here.
